I’m standing on the proverbial rooftop shouting the good news of this most awesome item that every RV needs. I’m serious. This mat is all that and more.
It all started last November while I was reading the latest Motor home magazine. Tucked away on page 66 in their Tech Savvy section was this must-have item called TrackMat. Mark’s mom and stepdad are traveling the country full-time in their RV so we need to keep birthday and Christmas gifts small. I showed the article to Mark to see if this was something Dave might like. It’s light, folds down to 3/4″ thick and for me met all requirements for the RV vagabond lifestyle. Total measurements are 4′ by 2′ open and 2′ by 2′ folded. The price was even perfect at $35! Thankfully Mark agreed. Here is their website: https://bedrug.com/bedrug-trackmat. My excitement was short-lived as they were sold out. Well, there goes the perfect Christmas gift. You know that euphoria when you know, I mean really know, that this gift is THE perfect gift. Imagine my dejection when it wasn’t available.
Never fear, Amazon is here! I ordered one for Mark as well. If it was perfect for Dave, it was going to be equally perfect for Mark. I called his mom, Gail to let her know I’d already bought it so we didn’t duplicate gifts (I hate it when that happens). I quickly hid them when they arrived, then wrapped them and tucked Mark’s behind the tree. Gail and Dave were going to celebrate in California so I gave them their gifts at Thanksgiving. Fast forward to Christmas morning when my very excited father-in-law called me specifically about the mat. He had already gone outside their RV, tested it and gave it a 5-star review. Oh boy, he and Mark were going to be showing off at camp next time we were all together. That’s exactly what they did a few days letter when a bunch of us got together to ride our dirt bikes and RZR’s.
I know they both use it quite frequently. Mark folds it in half and kneels on it when he washes and waxes the RV. He unfolds it and lays on it when he sprays the jacks. Our jacks can be finicky in cold weather and a little WD-40 does the trick. He even kneels on it on the roof when he needs to do anything up there. We had a step issue and the mat was a lifesaver as he laid underneath the coach working on them. When not in use, it lays nice and flat in one of our storage bays.
Since they travel full-time, Dave has gotten a lot more use out of his. He also had a step issue when we were in Norman, Oklahoma together in May. Both he and Mark laid on their mats underneath the rig and fixed the problem. I’m bummed I didn’t get that picture! I asked Dave if there was anything special he wanted to share about this wonderful mat and have included his answer below.
1. Use it when putting the full front bra on our Jeep as I need to be on the ground to install some of the straps.
2. Use it a lot when doing things to the motor home that require me to be sitting or kneeling on the ground. i.e. checking the batteries or tire pressures, making minor storage cabinet repairs, cleaning the leveling jacks, lubricating the slides, installing LED strip lights, etc., etc.
3. We have had several people approach us after seeing it in use asking where we got it and some even took pictures of the logo on the mat for reference and indicated that they “would” be buying one. Maybe I should become a distributor???
4. Other than it’s many uses the people who have asked about it were amazed at how lightweight it is, how easy it is to store, and how easy to clean with a little dish soap and water should it get dirty.
I can honestly say it is one of the most useful items we carry with us in our motor home, it is used on a regular basis and I have come to rely on it heavily. Best Christmas ever, thank you M & M.
