Everywhere you look people are talking about spring cleaning. The RV is no different. When we had our class C, we would take a day and go through it top to bottom. Mark would take care of the outside while I handled the inside. It looked so good when we were done.
Our Phaeton is no different although we don’t do it in a day anymore. She gets her spa day in February by ANS Detailing. We clean the inside after every trip before we take her back to storage and twice a year I do a deep clean. I lemon oil the cabinets, clean the windows and window sills, vacuum inside the cabinets and use the vacuum tools on those hard to reach spots. I use this Dawn and vinegar concoction in the shower to make it “like new” clean.
Silly me, I took a good look at the front chairs before my last deep clean. Wow, they were dirty. Embarrassingly dirty.
After searching for a cleaner, I decided on Meguiar’s Quick Interior Detail Cleaner. We only use Meguiar’s on our cars and boat so I knew I was in good hands. I used two microfiber cloths, one damp, one dry and worked in small sections much like waxing a car. I sprayed it on and rubbed with the damp cloth before finishing with a good buffing with the dry cloth. Some of the dirtier parts took some elbow grease but I could see the pretty and clean chair emerge as I kept going.
They looked so good when I was finished; good as new. From the chairs I moved onto the couches and while not as dirty, they also looked much better afterward. I like that the finish wasn’t slippery or super shiny. After sitting back and admiring the new clean seating surfaces, I vowed then and there not to let them get that dirty again.
Speaking of which, it’s that time again. Time to spend a few hours on our next trip giving the inside some serious cleaning attention and love.
Thank you for the recommendation for cleaning the seats. I haven’t been able to find anything that works, so I can’t wait to try the Meguiar’s. Dawn
I didn’t want to buy it online because I needed it “now” and ended up finding it at AutoZone.
