We found this gem of a campground during our recent trip to California. Orangeland RV Park is located in the City of Orange, across the Santa Ana River from Angel Stadium and the Honda Center, home of the Anaheim Ducks. It’s also only a few miles from Disneyland and California Adventure, making it a great place to stay for all your Orange County activities.
The park is privately owned and very well maintained. There are 190 spaces with most still set up for campers. After the 2008 recession, we found many campgrounds turned to permanent campers to help them stay in business. Our boys call such campgrounds Livegrounds. Reading in different RV forums, we’ve learned that many campers stay away from “Liveground” campgrounds. Orangeland is not that kind of place.
The owners take very good care of this shaded little corner of the world. A street sweeper came through this morning. First I saw it go by while eating breakfast then I saw it again almost an hour later while walking Marlee. Trash is picked up from your site all day long.
Sites are back-ins or pull-throughs. All have at least one tree but getting a satellite signal was not a problem at all. Spaces are paved asphalt with grass in between each site. Every site has some kind of table, either a standard picnic table or a round patio set with an umbrella. There are citrus trees throughout the park; Valencia and navel oranges, tangerines, two kinds of grapefruit, lemons and limes. And, they are free to pick when in season. The office will even loan you picking equipment if you’d like. I bet it smells fantastic when the blossoms are blooming.
Our neighbors are taking advantage of the $3 shuttle every 30 minutes to Disneyland. They are grandparents and like to walk around the park in the evenings. She said they have annual passes and it’s better than walking at a nearby mall. She also said seeing all the families keeps them young. I like her thinking.
We are only here for two nights. We stayed here for the Thomas Rhett concert at the Honda Center. It was an easy 1/2 mile walk each way. I thought we’d be the only ones walking but there were several others that had our same idea. Walking to the entrance gates of Angel Stadium is one mile. Just think, you can get some of your exercise in and not have to pay to park for either venue. Winning!
Free, password protected WiFi is available and it’s surprisingly strong for an RV park. I’ve been a blogging machine with this strong signal.
If you’re looking for a centrally located place to stay for OC Sports and entertainment, this is your hot ticket. You won’t be sorry.
Thanks for the review. We have booked here for a visit in March-then on to FMCA in Tucson. We really do seem to travel the same path as You and Mark! We are two of those old people who like to walk in Disney. We did it last March in Orlando.
Hope we get to see you at the rally!
