The 100th FMCA Rally in Minot, North Dakota is just around the corner! It’s sure to be another fabulous Rally full of information, RVs and fun. Anyone else excited?
Minot dates back to vast railroad expansion in 1886 and named after Henry Minot. The town nickname, Magic City, comes from the tent town that sprang up overnight, as if by “magic”. In the coming months as the railroad was built, the population increased to over 5,000 residents. The strength and resiliency of those early townspeople amazes me.
I know some of you get to take your time to to arrive and explore more than us that are still working. Lucky ducks. My in-laws fall into that lucky duck category. They are meandering through Canada right now, enjoying the beauty and much cooler weather. Once all of you LD’s (lucky ducks) arrive in Minot, there is much to explore.
The Scandinavian Heritage Park
In the center of town, this will surely catch your eye. Step inside a real Stabbur, explore our full-scale replica Stave Church from Gol, Norway, and walk around the 25 foot tall Swedish Dala Horse. You can immerse yourself in the Scandinavian culture and maybe even trace some of your own roots!
Get your animal fix as you stroll through sprawling campus. The Roosevelt Park Zoo was established in 1920 with a male bison from Montana and has been a fixture in town ever since.
Straight from their website: Founded in 1986, the Dakota Territory Air Museum has proudly evolved into a significant historical depository honoring the men, women and machines that have impacted the rich history of aviation. Through displays and events that inspire, educate and entertain, the museum has become a viable and important historical resource for our region and the state of North Dakota. Scrolling through their website, it looks like a great way to spend an afternoon.
However you spend your days leading up to the Rally or the few days after, you’re bound to enjoy your time in and around Minot. Tag us in your pictures so we can share in the fun!
