Our recent Colorado trip could have been named the luxury park trip. We stayed a few nights at Tiger Run in Breckenridge, even getting a fun hail storm. From there we tried out a new park in Pagosa Springs, one we’d driven by many times.
Let me tell you, Wolf Creek Run in Pagosa Springs is a beautiful little slice of heaven. Little because it’s only 27 sites and beautiful because several sites are along the San Juan River.
Just like Tiger Run, this is an owner lot RV Park. We were in site 13 which had a huge ramada along with full kitchen casita. Too bad we were only there for four nights. Every lot was 40’ x 60’ with an oversized concrete pad and gazebo. When I say the sites are huge, I mean it. There is no “pass the shampoo” between motorhomes here.
It’s Class A only but that can be gas or diesel, I asked. If your group is all Class A, this would be a great spot for a group event.
The grounds are immaculate, pretty flowers abound.
The clubhouse is huge for a park of this size that includes a supersized entertainment deck, showers and laundry.
The deck is the hub of activity for the park. Wednesdays are pizza night. The park provides the pizza and guests bring a dish to share. It was a great way to meet fellow campers. There were several from Texas, which is common in Colorado during the summer, along with Floridians, fellow Arizonans and other states. Other social events include Continental breakfasts Mondays and Wednesday, Pancake breakfast on Fridays, Game Nights and a daily happy hour. You come as fellow campers and leave as friends.
Another popular spot in the evening is the group fire pit along the river. Sadly, it was roped off because of fire restrictions. To accommodate for that, there is a large propane fire set up in near the waterfall. After dinner people mosey on out to the fire pit for conversations and friendship.
It’s a quick two minutes into town to stroll the main street, enjoy a soak in the hot springs, catch a summer concert in the park and have really good meals at the restaurants. We dedicated one day to the hot springs; the forced relaxation was magical. We sauntered from one pool to another trying hot pools then good warm pools.
It’s also a close to many wonderful hiking and horseback riding trails. We logged many miles, saw many waterfalls and thousands of pretty summer flowers. One afternoon we hopped on horses and rode to the top of a ridge for a spectacular view before a storm rolled in.
It’s always a sad day leaving a wonderful campground and this was no different. Add this to the top ten list for us. We may not get here every year, but eat time will be special.
This campground looks amazing. Love to experience it.
It is! I’d happily go every summer if I could.
