Spring is in full swing. Lucky us we get to use our RV all year, no winterizing for us.
We know not everyone is as lucky as we are. Many of you have waited all winter to go somewhere. Now that you’ve dewinterized, you’re ready for a trip. You’ve been scouring places to go, mapping the route and looking for an RV Park.
We’re here to help with our Top 5RV Parks. They range in size and price, some are spendy. Some are fancy, some are cozy and one is a big parking lot with the best view. Many are Passport America parks for added savings! Some book out early and others are ready for you now.
All of them are places we like to spend time doing. And by doing I mean hiking, trail riding, biking, wine tasting, and exploring. All have good food nearby. Each of these parks are ones we visit often or can’t wait to visit again.

5. Verde Ranch RV Resort. This was our escape hatch during the pandemic and has become our “close camping” favorite. It’s a new campground with lots of activities, a great pool and close to hiking trails, riding trails and is a perfect gateway to the Verde Valley wine district and Sedona. Also a Passport America park making some nights less than $30.
4. Ouray RV Park & Cabins. We love Ouray, I mean really love. We found it on a trip home from Yellowstone way back in 2001 and have been coming back ever since. We also like the KOA just north of town but this place is close enough to walk into town making it just about perfect. The sites are huge and some back to the river. Ouray is surrounded by 12,000+ foot mountains fill of great hikes and riding trails. The hot springs are the perfect place to relax after an adventurous day.
3. Sunset Vista RV Park in Surf City, USA. This beach parking lot in the summer becomes an RV Park in the winter and sits just south of the Huntington Beach Pier. This was the beach I rode the bus to as a kid and learned to boogie board. Yes, it’s just a big parking lot but the sand and surf make it all worth it. Your site is steps away from the beach, for campers 31-feet and shorter, your site backs up to the beach. We take both of our beach cruisers and road bikes for endless miles of riding.
2. Tiger Run RV Resort in beautiful Breckenridge comes in at number two. It’s an owner-lot park and the most expensive place we’ve stayed yet we keep coming back. We do enough boondocking to allow for this splurge. This is another cycling paradise, riding our beach cruisers into town and our road bikes down to Dillon Reservoir. At altitude, both are a good workout. You guessed it, there are fabulous hiking and Jeep trails minutes from the resort.
Drumroll please…
Our Number ONE favorite RV Park is McCall RV Resort in McCall, ID. We’ve skied in McCall since 2004, finding the campground in 2006 and have been going back ever since. It’s situated along the Payette River with a bike path down to the Payette Lake. They have several pod-style sites where four sites sit around a large grassy area, perfect for group camping. The town of McCall is heaven on earth for us. We are 5 numbers plus the powerball away from buying a house on the lake.
This list is ever changing, Mark is really good at finding campground gems. We could easily make a Top 20 list, there really are only a few places that we wouldn’t return. We hope you get to travel to your favorite places this year. Tag us in your pictures so we can share in the fun!
