There’s a brand-new RV Park at Lake Powell!
The Antelope Point Launch ramp opened in 1999 followed by the marina in 2004. Since then, we’ve heard rumors that the RV park was next year.
Well, next year is here!
It was worth the wait.
It’s a beautiful park on top of the mesa overlooking the lake. As antsy as we were for the park to open, I’m glad they took their time and did it right.
The sites are long and wide, perfect for extra long trailers and motorhomes with trailers. The back-in spaces make up most of the perimeter with pull-through sites filling the interior spaces.
Sites are all concrete with a separate concrete pad for a picnic table or firepit. All sites also have turf for grass and rocks with plants. Shade is minimal as the trees are still very small.
Our end space was huge. We could have hosted 20 people comfortably on the grass.
This campground sits on top of a mesa and can get very windy. Management had several signs warning of unexpected winds and the dangers of leaving your awning out. We had a nice breeze all night long. It would have felt great if the temps weren’t ten degrees above normal.
All surfaces are hot here in the summer. You’ll want booties for your pooch when staying here during our hot summer months.
There is a shuttle golf cart that will take you down to the marina. It’s a long walk down right now as the water is still 160 feet below full. We chose to walk since we’d just driven 5 hours. The marina is well equipped, far beyond the ice cream stop it used to be when our boys were little. There is a large store, large restaurant with shaded patio, boat rentals, tour boats and more. We’re used to the heat so having a beverage on the shaded patio watching the boats was just fine with us.
The walk back was hot. Many people caught a golf cart ride up, we weren’t so lucky. When the lake is full, the walk to and from is much shorter and less arduous.
Antelope Canyon Slot Tours locations are just down the street, you’ll pass them on your way to this park. When the water levels rise enough, the boat ramp will open offering a close launch point for your boating fun.
This park is going to become a favorite very soon. It’s a great location close to the lake and an alternative to Wahweap RV Park inside Glen Canyon National Park.
