We love meatball sandwiches. They are easy, feed a crowd and are delicious. Meatball sliders are a delicious addition!
Our annual “turkey in the dirt” has had an appetizer night for years and we’ve recently included it with the group we ride with. You’ll find Brian, drink in hand, tending his grill with another new thing to try while Margie always has a new dessert to try on appetizer night. I tell you; we don’t go hungry.
Besides being delicious, I love how easy it is to make and to double or triple the recipe if necessary. If you like the ham & cheese sliders, you’ll love these!

Start by heating the meatballs in a medium sized saucepan. We like to put four meatballs on the roll and this entire bag gets us exactly that. No snacking on them while they are cooking for Mark.
He is a sauce guy; there can never be too much of it. You can use as much or as little of your favorite jar of pasta sauce. Let them simmer for 15 or so minutes. It’s okay if they aren’t piping hot because they will finish cooking in the oven.

While the meatballs are simmering, slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally so you have tops and bottoms. Place the bottoms in a baking dish that fits them snugly. I always make a double batch in the RV and use a 9×13 pan plus a square pan.

Spoon the meatballs on top of the bottoms and top with sliced mozzarella cheese. You can use as many slices as you want.
Carefully flip the “tops” on top of the cheese.

You’re not done yet! Melt a couple of tablespoons of butter in a small ramekin and stir in some garlic powder. Brush it all over the tops then sprinkle some grated parmesan cheese on top. You don’t have to do this but boy howdy, it takes them over the top.

Cover and cook at 350° for 25-30 minutes until tops are golden brown. Cut, serve and watch them disappear.
You know we theme our Super Bowl food. I googled what city is famous for meatball sandwiches and four places popped up. New York City, Atlantic City, Salt Lake City and Santa Monica, CA. If the Rams make it to the Super Bowl, this will be my Rams appetizer.
Let me know what team you’re rooting for in the playoffs by their famous food!
