An hour out of Salt Lake City sits a beautiful RV park, Mountain Valley RV Resort. Heber City is between two reservoirs and surrounded by mountains making it a perfect home base for outside adventures all year long.
Our first stay will not be our last.
The park is open year round and boasts 193 spaces along with 8 cabins. The spaces are a mix of pull through and back-in. Many of the spaces are long and big rig friendly. Some sites are set up in a cul-de-sac which makes them great for people camping together. 95 spaces are in the new adult only section. The cabins are grouped together close to the clubhouse with their own fire pit.
The office/clubhouse is the anchor for the common area that features a nice pool and jacuzzi, both pickleball and basketball courts, playground equipment and a large pavilion that is perfect for a campground picnic. There is another pool complex that also has a firepit.
The new adult section has it’s own clubhouse, pickleball courts, fire pits, pool and jacuzzi. The clubhouse is well appointed with a gathering area, fitness room and large kitchen. The spaces in the adult section are larger and longer with more pull through spaces than back-ins. The end spaces have an extra large grassy area that makes for a great happy hour gathering spot. There were two camping groups that we saw during our stay and they made great use of the end spot. Sites 49-56 along the back have a huge grass area behind the spaces which I think make a great group camping section as well. There’s enough room for a rousing game of Molkky, cornhole or frisbee.
We stayed there in the summer. The hills were nice and green and the reservoirs beckoned. Several campers had boats and others had side-by-sides. The office rents them by the day. We did a little exploring in our Jeep and this is definitely a place we’ll bring our RZR to. The lady in the office told us there are hundreds of miles of trails with easy access less than a mile from the campground. That’s a big win. Jordanelle State Park and Deer Creek Reservior are minutes away for a fun day on the water.
There is much to in the winter here as well. Park City is minutes away with two places to ski. Snowmobiling is big here and a heck of a fun time. The place that we rent them from is less than a mile from the campground.
My morning walk around the perimeter clocked in at .77 mile. Every lap included lots of “good mornings” and “how are you today.” I tell you, campers are some of the friendliest people. We had a nice little thunderstorm roll in one evening as we were squeezing an after dinner walk in. As the wind picked up, people were pulling in their awnings, we noticed one trailer where the lady was struggling with her large awning. Without missing a beat Mark and another man ran over to help. Friendly campers.
We’ll be back for sure and hope to see you as well. Until then, happy camping!
