While I’m not completely sure about the accuracy of the cake name, I am sure it is delicious on all levels and probably one of my favorite desserts.
My dear friend Terri gave the recipe way back when both of us were newlyweds. This was often the marquee dessert at both bridal and baby showers for years. Then it fell to the back of my recipe box and gathered dust for far too long. Kevin and Tayler asked for it at their rehearsal dinner and we fell in love with it all over again.
When Mark asked what dessert I wanted for our annual Mother’s Day party, I whipped the recipe card out lickety-split. He did a fabulous job putting it together. Serving it was another matter, the man needs to work on pretty servings. I’ll keep him though, he scores 100% everywhere else.
I haven’t been able to find Skor bars in years. The recipe calls for 10 bars which were the regular sized bars and 1.4 ounces. Now, I get enough big Heath bars to make 14 ounces. You can use a regular Hershey bar if you don’t want nuts.
An added bonus, it’s as easy to make in the RV as it is at home. And, you don’t need to travel with your trifle dish because any large bowl will be a-ok.
First thing you’ll do is bake the cake in a 9×13 pan. After it’s completely cool, you can start assembling.
Cut the cake in half and break up that first half in the bottom of a trifle dish or large bowl.
Top with half of the Cool Whip and half of the candy bars.
Drizzle with half of the chocolate syrup. For a prettier top, pour all of the chocolate syrup with the first half of the ingredients. It’s just as delicious either way!
Repeat with the rest of the cake, Cool Whip, candy bars and chocolate syrup.
I like to make this ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator until we’re ready to eat it. It’s just as good to dig in as soon as you’ve drizzled the last bit of chocolate syrup. Trust me, I know things.
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
